Classroom Objectives & Expectations

The purpose of this art class is to inspire creativity, fun, and to encourage the exploration of the visual arts as an important means of self-expression. Students will develop and demonstrate visual perception skills through the many different processes, media and lessons taught and experienced through class work and assignments.

Art Class Rules

1. Be prepared for class- Always have your materials and/or work ready. 2. Listen attentively and follow directions- Use tools only as directed.

                                                                           - Work quietly to maximize productivity

3. Respect your peers and their property- Do not handle or harm others work. 4. Accept responsibility for tools and materials -All tools and materials must be cleaned and put away. -All tools and materials will be put away no sooner than five minutes before class is dismissed.

      5. Adhere to all school rules-All rules of student handbook will be enforced

Classroom Procedures 1. Students are to work quietly. Raise your hand if you have a question. 2. Students are to remain in their seats. Raise your hand if you need to get up. 3. Students are allowed 3 emergency breaks per 6 weeks grading period.

  Consequences of Misbehavior

1st Offense-Warning 2nd Offense-Parent Contacted 3rd Offense-Disciplinary Referral Of course the type of offense can warrant different disciplinary action at the teachers discretion

Class Grades

Classroom Projects- 50% Art Notebook- 25% 6 Weeks Test (Written Work, 6th grade)- 25% Students will be given an opportunity to receive extra credit. Produce physical evidence of involvement with any fine arts extracurricular activity and 5 points will be awarded to the students 6 weeks test grade. Ex. Personal artwork, and/or musical performance (live or videotaped), theatre arts, etc.

 Materials Needed

Notebook with at least 70 sheets Colored Pencils Large Eraser, Electric Sharpener (both optional)
