I, _________________________________, am a member of the 2009-2010 Yearbook staff and with my signature below I
acknowledge that:
- I must accept the assignments given to me and complete them before or on the day of their deadlines. I understand that failure to complete my entire assignment by the deadline, including any editing, proof corrections or photo-retakes, will result in a lower grade. If I am unable to complete a deadline because of illness or other excused absence, I will delegate my work to another staff member(s).
- I understand and accept that in order to meet my deadlines or a staff deadline I may need to stay after school and/or come in on weekends. Repeated inability to take on photography assignments or come in for work days will result in a failing grade and/or removal from the class.
- I agree to help other staff members finish their deadlines if I have completed mine.
- If I transfer out of the class, I will make sure all of my assignments for the year are delegated to other staff members. I will inform the adviser about all unfinished assignments and work I have delegated before I leave class.
- I will be available and willing to help sell yearbooks during scheduled sales days and help with any fundraisers that may arise.
- I agree to handle all yearbook equipment, including cameras and accessories, computers, printers and other supplies with care and be responsible for replacement or repair if lost or damaged while in my possession. I agree that the journalism department’s equipment and supplies will be used only for school related assignments. I will not take photos of illegal or inappropriate subject matter (as per the student handbook), and I will follow the ethical and legal standards for photojournalism.
- I agree to follow the ethical and legal guidelines for journalism when I cover stories, and I will not write anything that is malicious, slanderous, or libelous. I will not use my power as a student journalist to purposely hurt others and I will strive to be fair, balanced and accurate in my writing.
- I understand that not adhering to the outlined rules, procedures, and requirements could result in my failing or being removed from the class.
- I understand that more than on missed deadline will result in removal from the class and/or failing the class.
