Objective: Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to accurately identify key information and concepts relating to Economics and Free Enterprise according to Social Studies TEKS §118.1 and §118.2.

Procedures: Students will be expected to complete all classroom exercises, tests and projects as directed by and under the requirements and deadlines of the instructor. Grades will be provided through the evaluation of each student’s work.

Student Conduct: While in class students will be expected to follow all rules as outlined in the SINTON ISD Student Handbook at all times and without exception. Class procedures and expectations will be discussed and posted in the classroom. Students who are not behaving according to campus and teacher expectations will be subject to appropriate consequences.

Academic Honesty: Students are expected to complete all assignments in the course without the help of other students unless otherwise allowed. Work completed in any other process is considered unoriginal and unfit for submittal. Students who are caught cheating or attempting to cheat on tests or other assignments may not get chances to resubmit their work.

Grading: Each Six Weeks grade will be determined by the following: Daily Work/Folder – 25%, Unit Tests – 50%, Six Weeks Test – 25%

Discipline Management Plan: The instructor will consistently work to provide the safest and most appropriate classroom environment for learning through the use of all available and approved measures.

• Students who choose not to follow class, campus or district rules, policies and procedures will be subject to consequences appropriate for the offense.

• Students will be issued verbal warnings and redirection for first offenses of rules infractions that do not violate the safety of a student.

• Written warnings are issued following repeated offenses prior to office referral.

• Actions that violate the safety of a student will receive immediate consequences which include office referral.

Materials and supplies required: Students must have writing utensils (pencils, blue or black ink pens) and/or paper available to them in class daily. Students will need to provide a 1/2” binder that will be used to file assignments over the course of the semester. This will serve each student as a work portfolio to be used in preparing for tests and other assignments. Students who are not able to bring needed materials to class daily will put themselves in a position that will make it difficult for them to achieve success.

It is my sincere desire to have each and every one of the students in this course learn important facts and concepts regarding economics, become better students and citizens, and learn new skills and habits through participating in this class. I look forward to our time together this year.
