E.Merle Smith Middle School teachers Bonnie Perez & Robert Torres are attending a wildlife and nature conservation adventure in Montana and back to Sinton to the Welder Wildlife Foundation.  The once in a life time experience is sponsored by the Foundation and the Boone & Crocket Club.  They will be able to share all their knowledge and adventures with their students and co-workers.

SHS Student Blood Drive Team Addresses City Council

Sinton High School Blood Drive Team, Ethan Garza, Carolyn Mercier  & Mark Pustejovsky, addressed the Sinton City Council Monday, June 17.  The first blood drive for the 08-09 year will be Saturday, July 5 from 11am-3pm at Speck Eakin Park in conjunction with the Family Fun Day in the Park sponsored by the Sinton Chamber of Commerce. The team asked  those present to donate & to encourage their employees to also.  They stressed the increased need in the summer and the shortage in the summer of donors.  Pictured with the SHS team in far left is Jo Liz Villarreal, executive secretary of the Sinton Chamber and to the right of the team are Betty Wood, Sinton City Secretary, & City Council members Anna Franklin & Vicente Ortiz.
Practice Begins for SHS Academic Decathlon Team

2008-2009 Sinton High School Academic Decathlon Team & coaches have already begun practicing for their grueling competition.  Curricular theme for 08-09 is Latin America.  The Super Quiz topic will be An Introduction to Evolutionary Biology. Art, music, social science, economics, math, prepared and impromptu speech, essay, and interview are the topics and events that make up the curricular.  Pictured studing at the Sinton ISD Admin. Sinton for Youth & Wings Programs in Full Swing

Summer programs being held at Sinton ISD during the summer are Sinton for Youth with approximately 50 students and Wings with approximately 125 studnets.  The "blue group" of Sinton for Youth is pictured showing off their arts and crafts project of the day, hand decorated frisbees which they enjoyed throwing too.  Pictured in the back row:  Kobe Burk, Exander Gamez, Allison Garcia, Matthew Chavez, Parker Seago & Pearl Adams.
